LS3 - Legged Squad Support System

Don't you think this is creepy?  Real life is getting much closer to those futuristic movies that used to scare me much!

Another good Mychal Massie column entitled," If America is So Bad, Why Stay?"

The excerpt below is from Mychal Massie's recent column "If America is So Bad, Why Stay?"  FYI: Mychal Massie is black.   (Read the entire column here.)

"... Literally not a day goes by that blacks in America do not complain that they are mistreated and denied because of the color of their skin.

If that is truly the case, why do they stay here?  Why not leave and go where they will be happy?  Why not leave and go to a country where “true” opportunity exists?  A place where they are taken care of and provided for better than they are in America?

It’s a conundrum to me as to why a group of people — who supposedly, are daily as mistreated and persecuted as blacks are in America — would want to stay here.  Let them leave, and let them take liberals, socialists, and the Obamas with them.  Because it’s obvious that America cannot satisfy any of them.

Let them go to Liberia.  Maybe they can do more with it than Marcus Garvey was able to.  But by all means, let them leave here, so that We the People who love America and what she represents can live in harmony enjoying the traditions that made her the envy of the world.

But alas they won’t do that.  They’ll stay here and spread immiseration and complaint because, in truth, they understand there is no other nation that will work as hard as America has to accommodate their malcontent."

Cicero quote: Centuries later--the same problem!

Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-46 BC): "The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance."

Easy Chicken Broth Recipe from Dr. Mercola's website

Since we are now in the cold and flu season it seems good to post this excerpt from an article on Dr. Mercola's website.  It appears to be an easy way to help us avoid  sickness and to recover quickly when we become sick.
How many of you make your own chicken broth these days?  In the article, Dr. Mercola says that chicken broth made from the carcass(bones) of chicken is one of the most nutritious and healing substances we can be eating.  I guess our ancestors had figured that out years ago since chicken broth/soup was one of the first foods they offered to sick people.
I have included an excerpt from the article with the recipe Dr. Mercola recommends for homemade chicken broth.  I was interested to see the addition of vinegar and the explanation of why it was included.  You can read the entire article here.

. . . Easy Chicken Broth Recipe
. . . Both featured articles include a sample recipe for homemade chicken broth. The following recipe was provided by Sally Fallon, writing for the Weston A. Price Foundation.6 Her article also contains a recipe for beef and fish broth. (You could also use turkey, duck, or lamb, following the same basic directions.) For Dr. Myers’ chicken broth recipe, please see the original article.7
Perhaps the most important caveat when making broth, whether you’re using chicken or beef, is to make sure they’re from organically-raised, pastured or grass-fed animals. As noted by Fallon, chickens raised in confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs) tend to produce stock that doesn’t gel, and this gelatin has long been valued for its therapeutic properties.8 As explained by Fallon:
“Gelatin was universally acclaimed as a most nutritious foodstuff particularly by the French, who were seeking ways to feed their armies and vast numbers of homeless in Paris and other cities. Although gelatin is not a complete protein, containing only the amino acids arginine and glycine in large amounts, it acts as a protein sparer, helping the poor stretch a few morsels of meat into a complete meal.”
Besides that, CAFO animals are fed an unnatural diet that is not beneficial for their intestinal makeup, and they’re also given a variety of veterinary drugs and growth promoters. You don’t want any of these potentially harmful additives in your broth, so make sure to start off with an organically-raised product.
Ingredients for homemade chicken broth
1 whole free-range chicken or 2 to 3 pounds of bony chicken parts, such as necks, backs, breastbones, and wings
Gizzards from one chicken (optional)
2-4 chicken feet (optional)
4 quarts cold filtered water
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 large onion, coarsely chopped
2 carrots, peeled and coarsely chopped
3 celery stalks, coarsely chopped
1 bunch parsley
Please note the addition of vinegar. Not only are fats are ideally combined with acids like vinegar, but when it comes to making broth, the vinegar helps leech all those valuable minerals from the bones into the stockpot water, which is ultimately what you’ll be eating. The goal is to extract as many minerals as possible out of the bones into the broth water. Bragg’s raw apple cider vinegar is a good choice as it’s unfiltered and unpasteurized.

Cooking Directions

There are lots of different ways to make bone broth, and there really isn’t a wrong way. You can find different variations online. Here, I’ll offer some basic directions. If you’re starting out with a whole chicken, you’ll of course have plenty of meat as well, which can be added back into the broth later with extra herbs and spices to make a chicken soup. I also use it on my salad.
  1. Fill up a large stockpot (or large crockpot) with pure, filtered water. (A crockpot is recommended for safety reasons if you have to leave home while it’s cooking.)
  2. Add vinegar and all vegetables except parsley to the water.
  3. Place the whole chicken or chicken carcass into the pot.
  4. Bring to a boil, and remove any scum that rises to the top.
  5. Reduce the heat to the lowest setting and let simmer.
  6. If cooking a whole chicken, the meat should start separating from the bone after about 2 hours. Simply remove the chicken from the pot and separate the meat from the bones. Place the carcass back into the pot and continue simmering the bones for another 12-24 hours and follow with step 8 and 9.
  7. If cooking bones only, simply let them simmer for about 24 hours.
  8. Fallon suggests adding the fresh parsley about 10 minutes before finishing the stock, as this will add healthy mineral ions to your broth.
  9. Remove remaining bones from the broth with a slotted spoon and strain the rest through a strainer to remove any bone fragments.

Bone Broth—A Medicinal ‘Soul Food’

Simmering bones over low heat for an entire day will create one of the most nutritious and healing foods there is. You can use this broth for soups, stews, or drink it straight. The broth can also be frozen for future use. Keep in mind that the "skin" that forms on the top is the best part. It contains valuable nutrients, such as sulfur, along with healthful fats, so just stir it back into the broth.
Bone broth used to be a dietary staple, as were fermented foods, and the elimination of these foods from our modern diet is largely to blame for our increasingly poor health, and the need for dietary supplements.
Both broth and fermented foods, such as fermented veggies, are simple and inexpensive to make at home, and both also allow you to make use of a wide variety of leftovers. When you add all the benefits together, it’s hard to imagine a food that will give you more bang for your buck.

Obamacare

Obamacare is just another Democrat foray into Cargo Cult Economics that requires a willing suspension of disbelief and huge majority of Americans acting against their own economic interests for it to succeed.

The fact that this monstrosity was rammed through the Congress in a dishonest manner, by two of the most duplicitous, unindicted felons to ever lead the House and Senate, that would be Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, without a single Republican vote, it is hardly a shock to find hard core opposition. Apparently Obama thinks this is worse than when his own party advocated killing American troops in Iraq.  He also fails to explain how GOP opposition has had any impact at all. Obamacare is the law. It is being implemented. It is funded. It has turned out that the most effective opposition to Obamacare has not been the GOP, it has been the Obama administration’s epic incompetence and malfeasance.

A Black Man's Point of View by Lloyd Marcus

How true!

A Black man's point of view
By Lloyd Marcus

As millions of my fellow Americans, I am outraged, devastated and extremely angry by the democrat's unbelievable arrogance and disdain for We The People.  Despite our screaming "no" from the rooftops, they forced Obamacare down our throats.  Please forgive me for using the following crude saying, but it is very appropriate to describe what has happened.  "Don't urinate on me and tell me it's raining."

Democrats say their mission is to give all Americans health care.  The democrats are lying.  Signing Obamacare into law against our will and the Constitution is tyranny and step one of their hideous goal of having as many Americans as possible dependent on government, thus controlling our lives and fulfilling Obama's promise to fundamentally transform America.  I keep asking myself, "How did our government move so far from the normal procedures of getting things done?  Could a white president have so successfully pulled off shredding the Constitution to further his agenda?  I think not."

Ironically, proving America is completely the opposite of the evil racist country they relentlessly accuse her of being, progressives used America's goodness, guilt and sense of fair play against her.    In their quest to destroy America as we know it, progressives borrowed a brilliant scheme from Greek mythology.  They offered America a modern day Trojan Horse, a beautifully crafted golden shiny new black man as a presidential candidate.  Democrat Joe Biden lauded Obama as the first clean and articulate African American candidate.  Democrat Harry Reid said Obama only uses a black dialect when he wants.

White America relished the opportunity to vote for a black man naively believing they would never suffer the pain of being called racist again.  Black Americans viewed casting their vote for Obama as the ultimate Affirmative Action for America 's sins of the past.  Then there were the entitlement loser voters who said, "I'm votin' for the black dude who promises to take from those rich SOBs and give to me."  Just as the deceived Trojans dragged the beautifully crafted Trojan Horse into Troy as a symbol of their victory, deceived Americans embraced the progressive's young, handsome, articulate and so called moderate black presidential candidate as a symbol of their liberation from accusation of being a racist nation.  Also like the Trojan Horse, Obama was filled with the enemy hiding inside.

Sunday, March 21, 2010, a secret door opened in Obama, the shiny golden black man.  A raging army of democrats charged out.  Without mercy, they began their vicious bloody slaughter of every value, freedom and institution we Americans hold dear; launching the end of America as we know it.  Wielding swords of votes reeking with the putrid odor of back door deals, the democrats landed a severe death blow to America and individual rights by passing Obamacare.

The mainstream liberal media has been relentlessly badgering the Tea Party movement with accusations of racism.  Because I am a black tea party patriot, I am bombarded with interviewers asking me the same veiled question.  "Why are you siding with these white racists against America's first African American president?"  I defend my fellow patriots who are white stating, "These patriots do not give a hoot about Obama's skin color.  They simply love their country and oppose his radical agenda.  Obama's race is not an issue."

Recently, I have come to believe that perhaps I am wrong about Obama's race not being an issue.  In reality, Obama's presidency has everything to do with racism, but not from the Tea Party movement.  Progressives and Obama have exploited his race from the rookie senator's virtually unchallenged presidential campaign to his unprecedented bullying of America into Obamacare.  Obama's race trumped all normal media scrutiny of him as a presidential candidate and most recently even the Constitution of the United States.  Obamacare forces all Americans to purchase health care which is clearly unconstitutional.  No white president could get away with boldly and arrogantly thwarting the will of the American people and ignoring laws.  President Clinton tried universal health care.  Bush tried social security reform.  The American people said "No" to both presidents' proposals and it was the end of it.

So how can Obama get away with giving the American people "the finger?"  The answer:  He is black.  The mainstream liberal media continues to portray all who oppose Obama in any way as racist.  Despite a list of failed policies, overreaches into the private sector, violations of the Constitution and planned destructive legislation too numerous to mention in this article, many Americans are still fearful of criticizing our first black president.  Incredible.

My fellow Americans, you must not continue to allow yourselves to be "played" and intimidated by Obama's race or the historical context of his presidency.  If we are to save America , the greatest nation on the planet, Obama's actions must be thwarted.

Our Hometown Christmas & Light Parade

Many residents in our community enjoyed a snowy evening in the Park last night during Our Hometown Christmas.  Free hot dogs, cookies, and hot chocolate were served.  There was a live nativity re-enactment, Christmas music, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, children making snowmen, throwing snowballs, and sledding, people gathered around firepits to warm up, and then all enjoying a Light Parade at the end.

Some people went to lots of work and were very creative with their entries in the Light Parade.

What a fun way to enjoy the Christmas season!  Thank you Martinsville on the Move (& the Firemen's Auxiliary Light Parade) for sponsoring a wonderful family event!

45 Life Lessons, by Regina Brett

I want to remember this list because it is a great reminder to LIVE--to enjoy life.  Life is too short to be wasted with petty thoughts and unneccesary worries.  The list contains much wisdom and good advice so I'm posting it here so I will be able to easily find it when I need a reminder.

45 Life Lessons, by Regina Brett
1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

5. Don’t buy stuff you don’t need.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for things that matter.

22. Overprepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words, ‘In five years, will this matter?’
27. Always choose Life.
28. Forgive but don’t forget.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give Time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

Which Side Of the Fence

This came as an email which was forwarded to me by a friend.  I decided to post it here instead of forwarding it.  It certainly seems to describe the differences in lifestyle and to put the obvious into words.
I believe it would be a little more accurate if the categories were changed to Conservative and Liberal because I no longer trust Republicans to have the country's best interest at heart, (or if they do, they don't seem to have any backbone to do it.)   I believe most Conservatives live their lives according to the old adage of "live and let live," while most Liberals attempt to regulate the world into "live (and believe) as I do, or I'll see what I can do to make your life miserable."

Which Side Of The Fence? by Jeff Foxworthy
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one.
If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
If a Democrat is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.
A Democrat demands that those they don't like be shut down.
If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
If a Democrat decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended".

Baker Loses Rights

We are quickly losing the rights we have held dear, and that were the envy of people in many nations, for over 200 years.  There is a systematic plan to curtail (eliminate) freedoms not in agreement with the 'politically correct'.

Here is a report of another person being forced to support values he does not agree with at the cost of losing his business, just like Mr. Green from Hobby Lobby (see post here), but this Judge has decreed the baker has to support homosexuality with his business, instead of abortion causing birth control as is the case with the Hobby Lobby family.

As I continue to say, "This is a free country.  People should be allowed to run the businesses they own in any that is consistent with their moral values."

Americans had better wake up!

From the Patriot Post:

Baker Loses Rights

On Friday, Administrative Law Judge Robert N. Spencer ruled that the owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop near Denver must bake for and sell cakes to homosexual couples for their same-sex ceremonies. Last year, the Christian bakery owner turned away two men who "married" in Massachusetts but wanted a reception in Colorado. FRC's Tony Perkins offers this rebuttal: "The President's HHS mandate insists on the same kind of viewpoint capitulation. ... Americans are being required to do something the Founders never intended: separate their values from their vocations. If Jack Phillips, Barronelle Stutzman, Elaine Huguenin, or Hobby Lobby want to serve the Lord full time, the First Amendment encourages it. What it doesn't encourage are judges like Spencer, who trample Americans' rights as a way of inventing others."

Here's another excerpt from The Patriot Post on an unrelated topic (or is it?)

Columnist Burt Prelutsky: “I am equally disgusted with Republicans who have such an overinflated and infantile respect for the office of the presidency they feel they must refrain from using words such as 'liar,' 'thug,' 'bully' and 'hypocrite' – none of which is even slightly obscene – to describe Obama. A free people should not confuse their beloved nation with some bumbling leftist just because he happens to have won a popularity contest.”

"Calling Down the Fire - A Great Move of God Breaking Forth" by Robert Hotchkin

This is an excerpt from an article entitled, "Calling Down the Fire - A Great Move of God Breaking Forth" by Robert Hotchkin which was posted on the Elijah List today.  It has some practical suggestions on how to pray for ourselves and others in the Body of Christ so that we will be true representatives of Christ and therefore will have a part in bringing revival.
I wanted to pass it on if you haven't already read it.

" ...The Lord wants to use you to help birth this coming move of God. He wants to empower you to call His fire into the earth. And it all begins by knowing His heart and His love for all people and all places at all times.

Prayer Directives:

So let's pray for the Body of Christ that:

1. We will know the heart of the Lord like never before – the height, the width, the depth, and the breadth of His love for all people and all places at all times.

2. We will be a people who are unoffendable. That no matter how we are treated, we will refuse offense and continue to love.

3. We will make love our highest aim, and love others as we are loved by the Lord.

4. We will call down the fire of God upon the altars of our lives, asking the Lord to burn up every wicked, arrogant or selfish thing in us.

5.We will be His Burning Ones, ablaze with His love and calling the fire of God down upon anything of the enemy that would steal the fullness of who God is and what He has for anyone we encounter and every place we go."

Governor Sarah Palin on the Meaning of Christmas

Governor Sarah Palin & her family have been ridiculed & harrassed by the mainstream media because of her stand for righteousnes,s and particularly for her stand against abortion.  She, like David Green of Hobby Lobby, has been willing to stand up for what she believes at great cost to herself and family.  I am impressed.  How admirable in a world where everyone is trying to force everyone else to conform to their beliefs!  Sarah knows where her strength comes from - God.
In this article, which was posted on The Elijah List, she gives us a hint of the material contained in her new book about the meaning of Christmas.  You can read the article online here.

Governor Sarah Palin-

It's that time of year again – Christmas is in the air. Snow flying in Alaska, jingle bells heard on the street corners, bright-colored lights appearing on rooftops and peppermint chocolate chip shakes at Chick-fil-A all point to the most wonderful time of the year.

Why is it so wonderful? What do we really celebrate? With the hustle and bustle of the season, we can often run ragged and end up missing the mystery of Christmas, the birth of Jesus. With the advent of this beautiful season, I wanted to offer a few thoughts on keeping Christ in Christmas and pondering the meaning of His birth. More than just a historical event, the arrival of Jesus on the earth was the first step toward atonement, redemption and resurrection. He was "God made flesh", the true hope of the world. If I'm for Christmas, it's only because I'm for Christ.
gourds

The good news the Christmas message whispers to you is, "Fear not." That's what the angel said to Mary, and that's what God is saying to you now. As you wrangle through whatever challenges are going on in your life – financial distress, illness, concerns for your children or parents, even silly expectations you have about this season – it's natural for you to feel fear. But Christmas is not about the "natural", it's about the miraculous.
Hebrews 2:14 says Jesus became man "that through death He might destroy him who has the power of death."

Trials, hardships, and – yes – death are all part of our existence on earth. One day, I'll get the call and no one likes thinking about it, but the message of Christmas resounds anyway.
Fear not.
Why?
God helpfully elaborates.
"For I am with you."
Be not dismayed.
Why?
"For I am your God."
Jesus is the reasonIt's so common to receive cards in the mail in December with Scripture verses on pretty paper in gold foil commemorating the season. But the words are more powerful than a decoration to tape around your door frames.

Forget the dopey-hopey-changey things you hear from politicians promising an easier life if only you vote the way they tell you. The words of Scripture are the only words powerful enough to change your life and this culture.

"I will help you," God says. "I will strengthen you; I will uphold you with the right hand of My righteousness....Do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall wear....Cast all your anxieties on God because He cares for you....The Lord is my light and my Salvation: whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life: of whom shall I be afraid?"

Christmas gently encourages you in your weakness.
You don't have to be perfect. Perfection came, wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a humble manger. His life and death free you from others' expectations, from cultural decay, and even from your own inadequacies.

That's why you can rest in this season, because perfection doesn't depend on you. Ever wonder why there are so many candles during Christmas?
"In Him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it."
Governor Palin
This year, truly accept the joy and peace the holiday offers.
It can change your life.
It's already changed the world.
Merry Christmas.

My Greatest Concern by Stephan Nash

This was posted on Mychal Massie's The Daily Rant last week.  It is written by Stephen Nash.  If only we would listen to those who are crying out in the wilderness.  Prepare ye the way of the Lord.  His way is the only way whether we believe it or not.

My Greatest Concern

Living in an age where I have witnessed the greatest decline in American history, I have tremendous concern for the future of my children and my country.  I have no idea what my children and grandchildren will be facing in just 5 or 10 years from now.  I don’t have the assurance that the United States will be the world’s only super power or that we will even have the same government whose foundation is our built upon a tremendous Constitution.
Will we become part of a one world order before 2020?  If so, will we enjoy some of the same freedoms that we have held dear to our hearts?  Will government, whether the American government or some other world government, demand to be our god that demands our allegiance and worship?  Will some of our human rights, i.e. to bear arms, free speech, religious liberties and to teach our children what we feel is true, be something of the past?
You have concerns as well.  I read about them when you comment on some of my articles.  We ought to be concerned as we witness a dangerous, rapid shift in our society.  These concerns keep us awake at night and we think about them all day long, unlike the masses who have little regard or knowledge about the uncertain days in which we live.  Some like it that way.  They unknowingly feel that “ignorance is bliss” as they go about their daily business.  Unfortunately, someday in the near future, these ignorant people will suddenly be awakened to find that they have become subjects of the state that allows them few liberties at all.  The standard of living they experience will be worse than that of the Soviet Union just before its fall.
Overshadowing all of my concerns about tomorrow is the awareness that we, as a free people, are forgetting our God who gave us those freedoms.  When the Israelites forgot the true God, He turned them over to their reprobate hearts to serve other gods.  The result was disastrous!  The nation that witnessed wonderful miracles from the God who preserved them, suddenly became enslaved to other nations and their heathen gods.  After all, the Old Testament does say that, “Any nation that forgets God shall be turned into hell!”
A “god” is an entity that is worshipped, depended upon and trusted by its people.  The God of the Bible is no different.  He is the Creator and Sustainer of all life and demands our worship, love and loyalty.  Tragically, we have wandered from our God and He will be sure to do something about it.
We, as a nation, have steadily removed God from all institutions of our society.  Our children cannot speak about God in the public school.  Our “legislative” courts have aligned with the atheists to exclude God from the public square.  Small towns across America are terrified that they will be sued if they allow the children to sing Christmas hymns or erect a manger on their village green.  We are forced to pay for abortions, sex changes and other debauchery that conflict with our biblical convictions through Obamacare.  Other false religions are given preference over those denominations that worship the true God.
My greatest concern is what I read in 2 Thess. 2:11-12: “And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”  I have certainty of a better world where God reigns and where I shall spend eternity, but that won’t be the case for those who have ignored Him all their life.  Their god will have become the government that has enslaved them.  The Apostle Paul warns us that “we will become slaves to whatever or whoever we serve.”
My greatest concern is what I read in Rom. 1:21: “…they knew God but did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts and their foolish hearts were darkened.”  I have certainty of a better world because many years ago I surrendered my heart to the lordship of Jesus Christ, who transformed my entire life and that of my family.  I was once one of the “foolish,” whose heart was darkened as I spoke against the worship of the true God.  I was an atheist who was deceived by my own rebelliousness against God.  When my life began to fall apart I cried out to the God I vehemently rejected and He saved me from the guttermost to the uttermost, and for that reason I serve Him to this day!
My greatest concern is that I see my nation casting off any restraints placed upon any good society.  We feel we know better than God.  We have been deceived by the wicked one who leads our country’s influential around by the nose and they don’t even realize it!  “Thinking themselves wise, they have become fools.”  For this reason, their foolishness must be exposed.  To expose their lies we must be diligent to speak the truth in love and never back down.  We must get on the offensive in this battle for America lest we lose everything but our souls.

Jonah Goldberg on the Hobby Lobby Case

Columnist Jonah Goldberg: "[C]onsider last week's decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to consider two cases stemming from Obamacare: Conestoga Wood Specialties v. Sebelius and Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores. ... What both ... object to is paying for abortifacients -- drugs that terminate a pregnancy rather than prevent one. ... All they are asking is that the people using such drugs pay for them themselves rather than force employers and co-workers to share the cost. ... You may have no moral objection to such things, but millions of people do. By what right are liberals seeking to impose their values on everyone else? Isn't that something they denounce conservatives for? They could have allowed for plans that exclude controversial forms of birth control -- or even uncontroversial ones -- which would have lowered premium costs and expanded health care coverage to more poor people. But Democrats wanted a wedge issue to drum up a new battle in the culture war -- a war in which liberals have always been the aggressors."

Thomas Jefferson Quote

“God who gave us life gave us Liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?" --Thomas Jefferson, 1774
