Beware the Lesser of Two Evils Trap by David Kupelian

If you are one of those who can't decide how to vote because you don't want Obama re-elected but you're not crazy about Romney then you might want to read this article by David Kupelian on WND's website:  http://www.wnd.com/2012/10/beware-the-lesser-of-two-evils-trap/

Another Good Word from Marsha Burns

SMALL STRAWS IN A SOFT WIND by MARSHA BURNS:

Beloved, you must re-establish peace in your heart with those you have been in division with.  You cannot progress spiritually as long as you hang on to bitterness and offenses.  When you refuse to let go of the past, you are sowing seeds of separation.  The principle of sowing and reaping will affect how others respond to you.  When you reject others, you will also be rejected.  This is not good for you or those around you.  Choose today to forgive and release those who have hurt you, says the Lord.

Romans 12:17-18  Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.  If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

RJC Presents: "Perilous Times"

The Bible says, "Blessed are those who bless Israel and cursed are those who curse them."  (Gen. 12:3; Numbers 24:9;)  Hmmm?  Let's see.... Which side do we want to be on??
It seems that if President Obama is a Christian as he says, and some believe, he would be taking this word very seriously.  As the Word says, we are known by our fruit.  This is just one more example (possibly the most important one) of a long line of examples, in which Obama rejects Biblical principles.  (Homosexual marriage, abortion, gay rights, honoring Islam above Christianity, etc., etc.)
Please do your homework.  Find those who exemplify righteousness and integrity and who love Israel, and VOTE for them.   I do not believe America can withstand another 4 years of this president.  If we do not stand with Israel God will withdraw His protection and favor.

From an Israeli newsletter, Obama: 8 Reasons Those Who Love Israel Should Be Concerned

There is much food for thought in this newsletter from Israel.

OBAMA: 8 REASONS THOSE WHO LOVE ISRAEL SHOULD BE CONCERNED

MONDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2012 |  RON CANTOR
The following is a guest post by local Messianic leader Ron Cantor, a concerned Jewish immigrant from America who today resides in Tel Aviv. You can read more about Ron and his ministry at www.cantorlink.com

IS OBAMA GOOD FOR ISRAEL?

Seems like a silly question, right? But a Jewish person who is involved in the Obama campaign told someone close to me that the answer to that question is, yes, Obama is better for Israel than Mitt Romney.
I said to my friend, “This Jewish person wants to believe that Obama is better for Israel than Romney, because he is a Democrat, but no unbiased person could genuinely believe that.” I get it—the person is liberal and could not bear to vote Republican. So, despite the mountain of evidence that shows Obama’s hostility toward Israel and Netanyahu, he must convince himself that Obama is good for the Jewish state. He chooses to believe Obama’s positive statements on Israel, while ignoring his negative actions.
My name is Ron Cantor and I am an Israeli-American who is deeply concerned over the overwhelming Jewish support that the most anti-Israel US president in history continues to enjoy. If Israeli Jews could vote, they would choose Romney by a 3-to-1 margin[1]. Israeli Arabs, however, would choose Obama by a similar margin.
Below are a few highlights that reveal President Obama’s naivete when it comes to the Middle East and his contempt for Netanyahu, if not Israel herself.

1) NETANYAHU’S TREATMENT AT WHITE HOUSE

In May of 2009, just a few months after Barack Obama was elected President, he met for the first time as President with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. The President’s treatment of the leader of one of America’s closest allies was deplorable, and filled with disdain.
Netanyahu was quietly led into the White House through a side door. He was treated more like a secret mistress than an esteemed friend. There was no photo-op with Netanyahu (highly unusual), but when Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas (who denied the Holocaust in his PhD dissertation) visited, he was treated as “an honored guest with photo-ops and a smiling president gifting him with an extra hundred million dollars.”[2]
After he was unable to get Netanyahu to commit in writing regarding Jewish settlements, a frustrated Obama left the meeting and went to dine with his family. Edward Klein gives this account: “‘I’m going upstairs,’ the president told Netanyahu, according to my sources. ‘Call me when you’re ready to talk substance.’ Netanyahu and his entourage were then left to cool their heels in the Roosevelt Room. At one point, the Israeli delegation asked for something to drink and food. They were served non-kosher food, which some of them wouldn't eat.”[3] I can only wonder if Abbas was served food that was not halal, lawful for Muslims to eat.

2) HIS SPEECH IN CAIRO

The newly elected Obama sought to make good on a campaign promise, which was, “to give a major address to Muslims from a Muslim capital during his first few months as president.”[4] His goal was to “repair ties that were severely damaged under his predecessor George W. Bush.”[5] (For the record, ties were severally damaged when 19 Middle Eastern Muslim terrorists turned jets into missiles, killing nearly 3,000 Americans on 9/11!) The speech was titled "A New Beginning."
The problem with the speech wasn't the wording per se, but the naivete of the President to think that radical Islam’s anger toward the West is because of George W. Bush or American arrogance. (In France he actually declared that “there have been times where America has shown arrogance.”) He still fails to understand that the issue is not our arrogance, but their religious fanaticism.
Take for example Malala Yousufzai, the 15-year-old Pakistani girl who campaigned for the right of girls to be educated. The Taliban shot the young teen, nearly killing her. She isn’t American or Israeli—she’s Muslim! More Muslims die at the hands of Islamic radicals than Westerners.
Or we can look to Benghazi. The insistence for nearly two weeks by Obama and his team that the attacks in Libya were not a planned assault against America (because, hey… we’re all friends now!), but the result of “hurt… religious feelings of Muslims”[6] reveals that they still don’t get radical Islam.
If Christians began to burn down buildings and kill people because of the plethora of Hollywood attacks against them and their values, would the President even think of rebuking Hollywood? Mrs. Clinton told the grieving father of Ty Woods, the Navy Seal who was killed while protecting American diplomats in Benghazi, not that they would capture the murderers of his son, but that they would jail the filmmaker! He was incredulous.

3) PUBLICLY DEMANDING ISRAEL GO BACK TO '67 BORDERS

On May 19th, 2011 the President went on TV and called for Israel to return to the suicidal borders of 1967. Just to give some perspective, as I write this I am four miles from the Mediterranean Sea to the right. To the left, I am about five miles from the border that President Obama wants me to embrace. Yes, a nine-mile distance from our eastern border to our western border—and if I were a few miles north, it would be even narrower!
Some may say, “But you stole that land!” Not true. First of all the pre-67 borders were not sacred by any means. When Israel declared statehood in 1948, we were attacked by five Arab nations. The borders were defined simply by where everyone was when the attacking Arab nations cried uncle. These were called the 1949 Armistice Agreements, between Israel and Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. But make no mistake, this was no peace treaty. Had the Arabs been winning the war they would have annihilated us in our infancy. None of those nations recognized Israel as a state or the borders as permanent. It was merely to stop the fighting.
Secondly, we gained the West Bank when Jordan attacked Israel in the middle of the Six Day War. Our government had given Jordan assurances that we would not attack her if she stayed out of the war. However, King Hussein, believing the false reports that Egypt was marching on Tel Aviv, decided that he, too, wanted more land. They attacked and Israel pushed Jordanian forces out of Judea and Samaria, over the Jordan River. Why would we give that land back and return to an eight-mile width?

4) HILLARY THREATENED BIBI

When Israel decided to build housing in our capital, Obama was angry. He sent Secretary of State Clinton to deal with it. In a bureaucratic blunder, a low-level official granted the permits for those apartments on the very day that Joe Biden arrived. Netanyahu quickly apologized to VP Biden. However the President was infuriated and instructed Clinton to read him the riot act.
“The following day, during a 43-minute harangue, Hillary delivered a set of ultimatums to Netanyahu. Prefacing each remark with the phrase ‘I have been instructed to tell you,’ Hillary demanded that Israel release a substantial number of Palestinian prisoners as a token of goodwill; lift its siege of Gaza; suspend all settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem; accept that a symbolic number of Palestinians be given the ‘right of return’ to Israel under a future peace treaty; and agree to place the question of the status of Jerusalem at the top of the peace-talks agenda.”
Now get ready for this next part…
“‘If you refuse these demands,’ Hillary told Netanyahu, according to our sources, 'the United States government will conclude that we no longer share the same interests.'”[7]
This was all about Israel’s desire to build apartments in Jerusalem, our capital. My dear readers, can there be any doubt that relations between Israel and the US have chilled since Obama entered the White House? Even Bill Clinton, who rolled out the White House red carpet for the notorious terrorist, Yasser Arafat, didn’t use such language with the Israeli Prime Minister.(During President Clinton’s two terms in office, Arafat was invited to the White House more than any other international political figure.[8])

5) OBAMA’S CONVERSATION WITH THE FRENCH PRESIDENT

I am far less concerned with Obama’s rhetoric when speaking from a teleprompter to people he is seeking to appease, than I am with what he says when he thinks no one is listening.
During the G20 Summit in 2011, French President Sarkozi privately said to Obama, “I cannot bear Netanyahu, he’s a liar.” Sarkozy was not aware that his mic was still on! And neither was President Obama, as he fired back, “You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him even more often than you.”

6) YES TO THE ‘PIMP WITH A LIMP’… NO TO ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER

In September of this year, Netanyahu asked to meet with Obama while he was in New York for the annual UN meetings. Obama said he was too busy. The president has time for not only Leno and Letterman, but also to do radio with Miami’s “Pimp with a Limp.” The very word pimp is connected to prostitution and is more commonly used today in a way that is disparaging to African-American women. How could the first African-American President affirm such language by doing an interview with this man? And yet, he has no time for the leader of the United State’s most strategic partner in the Middle East. Or maybe he simply doesn’t view the US-Israel friendship as so strategic (see next point).
Netanyahu’s goal was to show Iran that the US and Israel were united against allowing her to get nukes. It would appear that Obama did not want to send that same message to the sociopath Ahmadinejad.

7) OBAMA: ISRAEL IS ONE OF OUR CLOSEST ALLIES IN MIDDLE EAST

Recently on 60-Minutes, President Obama said that Israel is “one of our closest allies in the region.” I thought Israel was Americas closest ally in the Middle East. I mean, who are we competing with? Libya? Egypt? Iraq? Syria? Sudan? Iran!? Sure a case could be made for Jordan and Saudi Arabia, but you cannot compare America’s recent associations with these undemocratic monarchies to her long-term friendship with Israel. That is like comparing your new girlfriend to your faithful spouse of many years.

8) JERUSALEM AND THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

“The Democratic Party platform doesn’t state that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, a change from prior years that could provide fuel to critics who say President Barack Obama’s commitment to Israel is weak.”[9] That was written just before the Democratic Convention and as the story spread, Obama realized he had miscalculated. He instructed the convention leaders to hastily organize a vote to put Jerusalem back on the platform. The vote was a farce with a predetermined outcome. Who can forget the way the voters were strong-armed and manipulated to make this change (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIXvbSL83RM). The poor fellow leading this gathering seemed to have a gun to his back from the woman behind him!
But how shocking, that if the Democratic leaders had not ridden roughshod over the will of the people, their official platform would not have affirmed Jerusalem as the capital of Israel... and 78 percent of American Jews voted for Obama. And make no mistake; it was only because of the national attention given to the fact that they had taken out Jerusalem, that Obama demanded that it be reinserted—along with God, by the way.

THE TERRIFYING CONCLUSION

If President Obama wins reelection he can’t run again in 2016. This is it. He will have nothing to fear during his lame-duck administration. Each time he has acted against Israel in the past, he knew that he could only go so far if he wanted to be reelected.
Thus, after each act of contempt against Israel or Netanyahu, he would grant an interview with an Israeli journalist or speak to a pro-Jewish group about America’s ‘unshakable commitment to Israel’ and how ‘relations have never been better between the two countries.’ But in a new Obama administration it’ll be open season on the pesky, little Jewish state—the cause of all the problems in the Middle East.

DON’T WORRY ABOUT US

And here is the rub. I am not worried about Israel. We have a covenant with God. We have tremendous promises of protection. We have survived miraculously through every attack against us. I am worried for America!
Great Britain was once a massive empire. They used to say, “The sun never sets on the British Empire,” because they controlled lands all over the world. At that time, Great Britain was actively supporting the creation of a Jewish homeland. However in 1922 they began to slowly turn against the Jewish people. Even during the Holocaust, they would not allow Jews to come to British Mandate Palestine (Israel), which they controlled (not Arabs), and even sent some Jews seeking to enter back to Germany were many died. And just like that, the sun began to set on her empire. Great Britain is a shell of her former self.
America rose up and became the best friend of the new Jewish state, being the first country to recognize her statehood, and America's influence and power rose as well. God said that He would bless those who bless Israel (Gen. 12:3) and indeed he has. But if America takes a hard left turn away from the Jewish state, it won’t hurt Israel, but America, as the very same passage says, “Whoever curses you, I will curse.”
I am convinced that despite the US’s many sins, judgment has been held back partly because of the favor that is promised to Abraham’s friends. Take that friendship away and judgment could come quickly. Even now, it feels as if the heavens are crying out. Could it be that the near Tsunami in Hawaii and present hurricane getting ready to slam against the East Coast is the Lord Almighty telling us that America cannot turn against Israel? I’m no prophet—I am simply reading the signs of the times.
Obama was quick to confess American arrogance towards Europe during what many have called his apology tour, but arrogance against God is far more serious.

Bobby Conner - We Are In Decisive Days

In a prophetic encounter recently, I was shown that one of the most serious problems confronting Believers today is the sin of self-centeredness. Self-centeredness is extremely deadly and subtle in an insidious way. It's not as innocent as taking the largest hamburger from the plate.
As Believers, we're called to focus on the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom we "live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28). According to Galatians 2:20"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me..." It is Christ who is my life. Awakening to Christ-within and dying to the self-life is the Cross every Believer must embrace.
Recognizing that evil self-focused nature is the first step of repentance. Where does this self-life hide? We become self-centered when we turn our gaze away from God's purposes to our own desires, needs, agendas and ambitions, our own troubling situations and weaknesses, and even our own manifold blessings, gifts and anointings...instead of turning our focus to Christ and Christ alone!
We are also self-centered when we assert our own will, our own good ideas or our own fervent zeal to achieve our own righteousness, accomplish great works or gain a form of godliness in our own strength. Remember how the Lord responded to those who recited their spiritual resume to Him inMatthew 7:21-23:

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'"

Any work born from the self has no eternal value. It's merely "wood, hay and stubble!"
What will save us from self-centered ways? Turning our eyes to Jesus! Focusing on the purposes of God! For this, we need the grace of God.
In this same prophetic encounter, I was shown an enormous funnel descending from Heaven to earth. The small spout of the funnel opened up to Heaven and the large mouth of the funnel opened out upon the Believer's head. All of Heaven's grace, blessings and promises, all that we need pertaining to life and godliness, were pouring down without ceasing and without measure from the generous, lavishing heart of our Father to His children. As Jesus Christ assures us, "Do not fear, little flock, it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom" (Luke 12:32).
The funnel represents Heaven's blessing in proportion to our focus. If we choose to turn our mind and heart to the Word of God and the Spirit, the exceedingly great and precious promises for our lives and the lives of our loved ones, our city and nation, then the blessings of Heaven will overtake us!
Upon seeing this funnel, I heard the Lord say, "I am about to turn things around!" What is He going to turn? The Lord is about to turn our selfish hearts away from our own self-absorbed fears and pride to the loving heart of our Father. He is about to turn our selfish gaze away from our own self-centered desires and self-dependency to a radical desire for dependency on our faithful Lord and Savior!
As we seek to set our firm focus upon God and the establishing of His Kingdom, then He will release blessings upon us and all those around us (see Matthew 6:33)! Let's sing that old hymn together:

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
Decisive Days: Acquire Divine Direction For Troubled Times
If I had only one word to describe these days, it would be decisive. The choices we make in these days will have long-lasting effects for generations to come. These are dreadfully dark and dangerous days, yet we will discover that these are some of the most decisive days!
None of us can afford to enter these crucial times uninformed about the situations that confront us. We live in some of the most turbulent and transformational days in human history. Underestimating even little events can have huge and long-lasting consequences. The challenges we face demand our utmost effort. We must awake from our slumber, come to our senses, and take a strong stand for faith (see Romans 13:11-14 AMP).
We are at war for the destiny of our nation and many of the nations around the world. The ancient landmarks are being removed; in many aspects, we are losing the moral compass and course of the soul of our nation.
None can afford to fall prey to the paralyzing spirit of apathy. We cannot continue to simply go with the flow, adding to the sense of aimlessness so prevalent within our world. It is time to take our stand (see Ephesians 6:13). The road to restoration is repentance. We must repent and return to the Lord.
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
Prayer is powerful and productive; waste no time. Lift your cry, interceding for godly breakthrough within our land. Join the prayer in Psalm 25:4-8 (MSG):
Show me how You work, God;
School me in Your ways.
Take me by the hand;
Lead me down the path of truth.
You are my Savior, aren't You?
Mark the milestones of Your mercy and love, God;
Rebuild the ancient landmarks!
Forget that I sowed wild oats;
Mark me with Your sign of love.
Plan only the best for me, God!
God is fair and just;
He corrects the misdirected,
Sends them in the right direction.
Yes, Lord, school us in Your ways, lead us in the path of truth, rebuild the ancient landmarks, and send us in the right direction(see Proverbs 14:12).

True Commitment by Rick Joyner

This is an excerpt from an article by Rick Joyner.  You can read the entire article here.  I thought these were excellent questions to ask ourselves about our commitment to God through our relationship with Jesus.  Are we truly committed to love Him with all of our hearts?

""True commitment is more than an emotion or a promise—it is demonstrated by how we conduct our lives. Could we say that we are devoted more to the Kingdom than to this world? II Corinthians 13:5 says to "test yourselves to see if you are in the faith." There are evaluations like the following that we should do regularly:
    • Is Christ our first love?
    • Is our love for Him growing?
    • Are we growing in the knowledge of His ways?
    • Are we controlled by our love for Him, making all major decision based on the interests of the Kingdom and not our own desires?
    • Is there anything in our lives that could be an idol, characterized by us not being willing to give it up if required by His service?
     • Are we living the life of a disciple, seeking above all things to know our Master, to be like Him, and to do His will?
There is no greater affront to a relationship than indifference. This is why the Lord said that He would rather us be hot or cold, but the lukewarm He will spew out of His mouth (see Revelation 3:15-16). How could anyone truly know Almighty God, the All-Consuming Fire, and not be on fire for Him? Would anyone choose to serve a king keep their job long if they were not devoted to the highest standards of excellence? How could we who have been chosen to serve the King of kings be lackadaisical about our service to Him?"

What Should I Read Next

If you love to read, as I do, I thought you might want to check out this website.  I had bookmarked it a long time ago to look at when I had more time, but forgot about it.  As I was cleaning out the bookmark folder on my computer I rediscovered it.  I'm certain it could be very helpful.
I find it so exciting to read a good book by an author I like.  But then when I'm finished I wish I wasn't, and begin searching for another like it.  This site lists other books written by each author and also helps you find similar ones written by others.

The Bright Lamp of Holiness by Francis Frangipane

A good reminder from Francis Frangipane...

The Bright Lamp of Holiness
Since true holiness produces in us the actual life of the Holy Spirit, we must be sure we know who the Spirit is. The Spirit of God is love, not religion. God is life, not rituals. The Holy Spirit does more in us than simply enable us to have a religion about God. The Spirit comes to lead us into the actual presence of Jesus. Herein is our holiness made real: in our union and fellowship with Christ.
Again, the holiness we are seeking is not a legislative or legalistic set of rules; it is Christ's very own quality of life. The Holy Spirit works in us not merely a new desire to love, but He imparts to us Christ's very own love. We develop more than just a general faith in Jesus; we actually begin believing like Jesus, with His quality of faith. It is God in us that makes us holy. Let it stagger us, let it rock us off our comfortable little perches until, with great trembling and great joy, with deep worship and holy fear, we approach the divine reality who has, for His own will and purpose, called us to Himself.
"Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" (1 Cor. 3:16).
The Spirit of God dwells in us. In this light, let us ask ourselves again the age-old question, "What is man?" We know how we appear to other men, but if God truly is within us, how do we appear to angels or devils? What light marks us in the spirit world, what illumination surrounds us, what glory declares to the invisible realm, "Behold and beware, here walks a son of God!"
Think of it: the Spirit of the Creator, who purposed in the beginning to make man in His image, is in you . . . now.

American Crossroads: Operation Hot Mic

Our President has been less than truthful with the American public.  He has spent millions of dollars to hide his birth certificate, school records, and passport records.  His social security number is one issued in Connecticut.  He has usurped authority that was given to Congress and implemented laws and regulations that were not meant to be handled by the President--i.e. taking over the auto industry.  And in this video he is caught making promises to the leader of Russia--supposedly off camera.
I pray that America will wake up!!  Is this the kind of leader we want representing our country--the person who ran on "transparency" in 2008.  He is an embarrassment to those of us who believe America has been a light to other nations, standing for truth and justice.
   Please vote on Nov. 6.

Where Obama's policy on Islam is Taking Us

Today I'm adding two posts that reveal even more disturbing information on our President.  Please vote.  I don't believe our country can survive as we know it for another 4 years with him as President.  In fact, I believe he is out to destroy the America we have loved and believe in.  Go see the movie "2016" if you doubt that is his goal.
This excerpt is from a post on http://www.northerngleaner.blogspot.com/ about where the Obama policy on Islam is taking us.  It is frightening to see how quickly our freedoms are being trodden upon and how few people realize it.

"America must remain as “One nation under God”–the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob –for our own survival as well as for the safety and survival of the only other country in the Middle East which shares our values--Israel. We must not allow political correctness to muzzle what we truly believe. Failure to do so could be our undoing.

There are a number of things he has embraced in this area while President that trouble me in addition to what is above.

May 2009 – While Obama does not host any National Day of Prayer event at the White House, he does host White House Iftar
dinners in honor of Ramadan.

April 2010 – Christian leader Franklin Graham is disinvited from the Pentagon’s National Day of Prayer Event because of complaints from the Muslim community.

April 2010 – The Obama administration requires rewriting of government documents and a change in administration vocabulary to remove terms that are deemed offensive to Muslims, including jihad, jihadists, terrorists, radical Islamic, etc

August 2010 – Obama went to great lengths to speak out on multiple occasions on behalf of building an Islamic mosque at Ground Zero, while at the same time he was silent about a Christian church being denied permission to rebuild at that location.

2010 – While every White House traditionally issues hundreds of official proclamations and statements on numerous occasions, this White House avoids traditional Biblical holidays and events but regularly recognizes major Muslim holidays, as evidenced by its 2010 statements on Ramadan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Hajj, and Eid-ul-Adha.

October 2011 – Obama’s Muslim advisers block Middle Eastern Christians’ access to the White House.

February 2012 – The Obama administration makes effulgent apologies for Korans being burned by the U. S. military, but when Bibles were burned by the military, numerous reasons were offered why it was the right thing to do.

I don't believe that Obama is a Muslim, He just grew up in it. I do believe he has a bias toward Islam that I cannot support as a Christian. I would rather NOT vote than vote for an agenda that embraces and encourages an antichrist religion in the USA."

I agree with the author in that it is better to NOT vote than to embrace an antichrist agenda, but I believe we must vote if we want to see a change in the White House, because voting counts twice.  To not vote is one less vote for Obama, but to vote is one less for Obama and one more for Romney.  Please vote!

Rev. Billy Graham

This is an excerpt from an email I received from the Family Research Council today.   I pray many more courageous Christians will take a stand with Billy Graham.  We must not remain silent!  And let's also pray for Dr. Graham's ministry and the upcoming election.

Prayer Targets: Dr. Billy Graham, DOMA Stricken, Marriage Ballots, Leo Johnson Honored, Election
October 24, 2012 |  | Share with Friends | Permalink
Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God. Acts 20:16-17
Dear Praying Friends,
Dr. Billy Graham will turn 94 on November 7th. His remarkable ministry, spanning 69 years, is not over yet. Graham expects to live to see the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) conduct the greatest effort ever undertaken in the U.S. in November 2013 (see HeartacheFinal CallMy Hope). Graham, like us, is praying over the upcoming elections. Last week, BGEA launched a nationwide ad campaign urging all Americans to pray for the elections and to vote for candidates who support biblical values. The Wall Street Journal and USA Today carried full page ads depicting a simple but elegant black and white portrait of Graham with this br ief exhortation:
The legacy we leave behind for our children, grandchildren and this great nation is crucial. As I approach my 94th birthday, I realize this election could be my last. I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel. I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman. Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God. Billy Graham
Immediately following publication of the ads, articles emerged from left-leaning evangelical and atheist blogs criticizing Graham. Some suggested that he was unduly influenced by his son, Franklin, now President of BGEA. Critics pointed to Graham's long practice of not commenting on politics. Graham, who has advised Presidents both on private matters and political issues, at one time made public his political views, but stopped doing so many years ago - both after being burned by the conduct of politicians he had helped and coming to believe that expressing his political views could diminish his ability to reach all men with the gospel - his primary calling.

Yet earlier this year he came out strongly in support of the North Carolina Marriage Amendment, using the full weight of his influence to persuade his beloved fellow North Carolinians to vote for passage of one of the strongest constitutional marriage amendments in the nation. There is little doubt Graham inspired many of his fellow citizens to produce a lopsided 61%-39% vote to pass the amendment.

Graham is not alone. Christian leaders across the nation, silent in the past, have found their voices. They are speaking out now because secular politicians have frequently and increasingly crossed the line of separation between church and state, usurped eternal moral laws, lightly esteemed tested biblical values, openly profaned sacred institutions, and viciously assaulted the spiritual foundations of our nation, culture and government. Arrogating to themselves powers they do not have under our federal and state constitutions, they have become a direct threat to the faith and freedom of the American people. Clergymen now feel compelled to correct the politicians who have politicized weighty moral matters and treated them like trivia they can trade, discard or eliminate at will. In so doing they have abused millions of Americans who hold fast to these values and ideals. The specific biblical values Billy Graham has outlined as voting criteria are the bare essentials...the line that God-fearing people must hold in their clash with secularist politicians. If we fail to do so, our nation will either self-destruct or incur the wrath of the Living God or both.

Graham's call to Americans urgently to pray and vote on the basis of candidates' adherence to: 1. Biblical Values; 2. Support for Israel; 3. the Sanctity of Human Life; and 4. the Definition of Marriage as between One Man and One Woman, is a call to fundamental biblical faithfulness, not partisan politics. Graham is doing what every Bible-believing pastor and minister in America should be doing right now within his own sphere of influence: using his influence to make sure those within his sphere of influence understand the biblical issues at stake and faithfully use their sacred votes to advance righteousness in our nation and so to please God to whom we must give an account. Graham is providing fellow ministers and rank and file believers some help (see Dr. Graham's ProfileBiographyPhotosCampaign Ad and links to downloadable Church Bulletins, Posters and other resources).
