How far we have fallen!

Have you seen the photo of the homosexual ball player celebrating his draft pick with a kiss to another man?  The photo was on the Drudge Report for a couple of days.  How far we have fallen as a nation!  We seem to have surpassed Sodom and Gomorah in our sinfulness!  Surely if God judged them he must judge us!

Everytime I looked at Drudge for news these past days I tried to avoid seeing that shameful picture.  I am reminded of the scripture in Psalms, "I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me."  Psalm 101:2-4

I don't want that picture in my mind.  It makes me feel sick and sad and disgusted and despairing and even hopeless for the future of my grandchildren.  It is shameful, but they have lost all sense of shame for their sinfulness and instead flaunt it.

The news media, the homosexual lobby, 'enlightened' citizens--all can proclaim to the highest heavens that homosexuality is good and 'gay marriage' is right, but I see those who do that as the citizens in the book The Emperor Has No Clothes.  Did you read that as a child?  Even though the Emperor was totally naked his subjects were to ignore that fact and pretend that he was fully clothed.

The Bible says marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman which is for the purpose of procreating the earth.  This covenant is to represent the love of God and his church for one another.  Anyone who calls what those of the same sex do together a marriage are pretending, but as Galatians 6:7 says, Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.  Earlier in the chapter it says, "Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass (sin), you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted."  It doesn't say ignore the sin.

Homosexuality is a sin, just as adultery, gossip, gluttony, idolatry, selfishness, abortion, and the list goes on and on, are sins, and we need to call them what they are.  Homosexuality is not any worse sin than any other because all sin separates us from God, but the only hope for sinners is to recognize the sin, repent and turn to Jesus, our savior.  The job of God's people is to help those who don't yet know Him understand how good He is, how much He loves them and that He is holy and cannot allow sin.  How will people know if we don't tell them what the Bible says?

I have heard the argument that homosexuals are born that way.  Are adulterers, liars, murderers, etc.  born that way, since all are listed together in Romans 1?  No!  They are sinners who need to be saved from their sin by the grace of God.  We all have a predisposition to sin in different ways, but it is only 'overcomers' who inherit the kingdom (see Revelation 2 &3).  Contrary to popular belief it is not loving to close our eyes to sin or try to rename it (same-sex marriage, pro-choice) thereby encouraging people to continue.  The loving thing is to help them(us) identify the sin, turn to Jesus to confess it and then to learn to resist the temptation to continue sinning.  We all need this help.

I am tired of watching the media brainwash us into thinking we are OK when we are not!  It is time for God's people to stand for righteousness!

Please, Lord, let there be a spiritual awakening in this country and let it begin with the church.  It is our only hope.

II Chron. 7:14:  "If my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land."

Let us pray fervently for revival and turn from our wicked ways!
