Mark 6

     In Mark 6:7-12, Jesus commissions his disciples and sent them out.  In verse 30, they have returned to tell him about what happened as they did what He told them to do.  So many people showed up they continued ministering and Mark goes on to tell about the feeding of the 5000.

 "Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 31 And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves.

33 But the multitudes saw them departing, and many knew Him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Him. 34 And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things. 35 When the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him and said, “This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late. 36 Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread;  for they have nothing to eat.”

37 But He answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.”

And they said to Him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?”

38 But He said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.”

And when they found out they said, “Five, and two fish.”

39 Then He commanded them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties. 41 And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all. 42 So they all ate and were filled. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish. 44 Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men."

   A new idea struck me as I was reading this account.   I have often heard this explained as the 12 baskets full were representative of the 12 tribes of Israel and the 7 baskets full which were picked up in the feeding of the 4,000 (Mark 8:1-10) were indicative of the 7 Gentile nations occupying the Promised Land.  I don't discount that--as I have often heard--the Bible is like an onion--you peel off one layer to discover another underneath--but this morning the meaning seemed very simple to me.  As you see in verse 31, it says "they did not even have time to eat" because of the crowds.  Could it be the 12 baskets full was one way of showing how much Jesus cares for His own?  He made sure there was an abundance.
     One of the footnotes in the Bible I was reading said the baskets in the feeding of the 5,000 were probably the lunch baskets which were carried on their bodies as they travelled.  It seems to only make sense that Jesus wanted to make certain the disciples also had food after feeding everyone else so He made sure their lunch baskets were full.   This explanation seems plausible, especially when it was mentioned they hadn't "even had time to eat."
      I looked at the feeding of the 4,000 to see if this idea was indicated there.  I found in this story the disciples had 7 loaves of bread which they gave to be used to feed the multitude.  There were 7 baskets full left over.  The footnotes for this story said these were probably not the lunch baskets often used, but probably larger baskets.  Isn't it just like Jesus to return more than they gave!
      Both stories seem to indicate how much Jesus cares for each person.  No one was left out and all received in abundance.
      Isn't He a wonderful Savior?

The Kingdom of God

       Have you ever read the book, Blessed Child, by Bill Bright & Ted Dekker?  I read it several years ago and loved it, but had forgotten about it until recently.  I decided to read it again over the weekend.  What a wonderful book!  Even though it is fiction--or maybe because it is--it is absolutely fascinating!  In the midst of the suspense and mystery the message of the book portrays the kingdom of God in a way that makes you long for it and understand it better.
       In the book the authors use a wonderful analogy to explain how giving negative things of the world place in our lives causes us to lose the power of the kingdom working in our lives.  One of the characters, a priest, told his adoptive son to pour oil into a vase and hold it up to the fire.  He asked him what he saw.  The little boy replied that the vase was filled with gold.  Then the priest brought in a container of black filthy water and asked his son to pour it into the vase.  The little boy commented the vase was already full, so the priest told him to pour some of it back in the bottle and then fill the vase to the top with the black water.  When he did the black water flowed throughout the oil--not mixing with it but tainting it.  What a great picture of what happens in our lives when we allow things in our lives that don't exemplify or glorify God!
     The book confirms something I heard Bill Johnson say this weekend.  He was talking about reigning with God.  He said, "My desire is to have no thoughts in my mind except those that are in God's."  Can you imagine what a wonderful world we would live in if everyone had this desire?  No jealousy, no competition, no condemnation or criticism, no hate or anger, no bitterness, no depression or despair, no evil thoughts!  We would be living in the kingdom of God and our lives would be a mighty witness of His love and character yielding a demonstration of His power.
     That is a lofty goal, but certainly one worth working towards, don't you agree?

Window Washing

I have been washing windows this week.  A pretty big job because we have lots of windows in a two-story house.  I tried a couple of different home-made formulas for the washing solution to use on the outside windows and decided this one is the best:
                1/2 bottle Jet-Dry or other rinse agent
                1/4 cup ammonia
                4 Tbs. alcohol
                1/4 to 1/2 cup dishwasher powder
                2 gallons of hot water

On the easily reachable first floor windows  I used a car washing mop.  I saw this recommended on a blog and found it very helpful and effective.  On the higher windows I have an extension pole and a microfiber scrubber (used with a squeegee to wash the inside windows) which I attached to the pole.  The method is to first spray the windows with water, scrub them with the solution, and then rinse by spraying again.  After trial & error, I found that you can't rinse too much.  A couple of the first windows I did had streaks from the solution running down, so I redid them.

This is an excellent method for a house with only first floor windows; for the second story I seemed to be taking a shower with every rinse, but the results were worth getting wet.  Otherwise, I have the crank out windows which can be washed from the inside but it is a cumbersome job.

Inside I use vinegar and water with the above mentioned scrubber and a squeegee.

Such a great feeling to have sparkling windows!

 

DuckDuckGo

Have you heard of DuckDuckGo?  I was reading something yesterday that mentioned it as a search engine that does not track you.  I was intrigued.  The more I read about privacy, the more I realize we have very little, so I would like to do all I can to preserve what little privacy I still have.

I watched this youtube video by Aral Balkan: "Free Is A Lie" which was linked by the person who recommended DuckDuckGo.  Eye-opening!  All of this is way above my pay grade, but I am trying to do my part and be as informed as I can be.  So I installed DuckDuckGo.

"Three Prophetic Words to Position You in the Year 5778" Jamie Rohrbaugh

      I love reading encouraging words.  That's why I post them here, so I can find them again.  This word posted on The Elijah List today from Jamie Rohrbaugh speaks directly to my heart.  I have been one of those who has wondered if my time with the Lord has really been fruitful.  I often don't sense His presence and my mind wanders, but because I love Him so, I persevere.  It is exciting to receive a word that He hears and is about to answer.
     In our small group, we have been "putting a demand on the Holy Spirit" by seeking Him and asking for words as we pray.  And I believe we have not exercised our authority nearly enough in declaring God's word for our families, neighbors, city, etc., so I agree heartily with this word.

"Three Prophetic Words to Position You in the Year 5778"

As you may know, the Jewish New Year began at sundown on Wednesday, September 20. The Lord gave me three prophetic words for 5778, and I believe they will encourage you! 

Here is what the Lord has told me about Jewish year 5778:

1. Just in Time, Holy Spirit is Sending You a Double Portion Anointing

Many of you have felt like your anointing is gone. You have been through Hell and back, and your experience has left you feeling dry and uninspired.

After praying about this, I looked out onto my back porch. I often see doves there, but usually only one dove or, at most, two at a time. However, on a recent morning, I saw not one or two, but FOUR doves on my porch. Immediately, the Lord spoke to me and told me that He is sending a double restoration of the anointing to His people. Furthermore, this double portion anointing is coming to you—NOW.

This is not one of those prophecies that you have to wait three years to see fulfilled. God has already begun pouring out the first drops of His refreshing, and you will quickly find yourself under a deluge of healing rain as you believe Him for it.

As it says in Joel 2:23, "Be glad then, you children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God; for He has given you the former rain faithfully, and He will cause the rain to come down for you—the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month."

"Expect God to work miracles on your behalf this year."

If you need that double anointing, the Lord told me to tell you these things:

• All the anointing and inspiration that has been stolen from you is NOW going to be restored to you double.

• You will have twice as many inspired ideas as before.

• You will hear God twice as well.

• You will be anointed to prophesy twice as much as you were before.

• You will have twice as many supernatural encounters as you EVER had before.

Beloved, you are not dead. You are not even sleeping. You have been in a time of resting and healing, and now your spirit is going to roar back to life in ways you have never seen before. Hallelujah!

If you need this double portion anointing, put a demand on God to flow through you. In situations like this, the anointing works like a pump. You have to prime a pump in order for it to produce flow. If you have lost your flow, go ahead and prime your pump. Put a demand on Holy Spirit specifically to fill you with His flow and anointing.

Examples of ways you could do this include:

• Asking Holy Spirit for a word of knowledge or prophecy that you can share to bless someone.

• Doing something creative and asking Holy Spirit to flow through you to accomplish His creative work.

• Praying in the spirit over your day, then immediately carrying out what the Lord gives you unction to do as you prayed in the spirit.

As you exercise your faith to put a demand on God, you will find Him ready, willing, and eager to answer you with that double portion anointing He has promised. (Photo via Pixabay)

2. In 5778, Exercise Your Governmental Authority More Than You Ever Have Before

Psalm 149:6-9 says, "Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand, to execute vengeance on the nations, and punishments on the peoples; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute on them the written judgment—this honor have all His saints. Praise the Lord!"

As God's son or daughter, you have the honor of joining with the people of God to:

• Execute vengeance upon the nations, and punishments upon the peoples.

• Bind kings with chains, and nobles with fetters of iron.

• Execute the written will of God upon all nations and peoples.

In 5778, it will become increasingly important for you to use this authority to see God's will carried out in your sphere and around the world.

How do you exercise your authority? Two ways:

• By letting the high praise of God be in your mouth.

• By wielding the two-edged sword, which is God's Word (confessing it verbally).

For decades, God has been renewing His people's understanding of how important it is to confess His Word out loud. By this point, mature Believers should be well-versed in the power of speaking God's Word. In 5778, it is time to move from simple understanding to very purposeful action in this area.

All around the globe right now, situations exist which need the governmental interference of God. The situation in North Korea stands out to me as one of the most important challenges that God's people need to address now. However, many other situations both in your house and around the world will benefit from God's intervention as well.

For example, think of the impact God's Word could have upon:

• Your state of mind.
• Your marriage.
• Your finances.
• The government of the country in which you reside.
• The unreached people groups who still need to hear the Gospel, and more.

If you would like to receive all that God has for you, I strongly encourage you to set aside 10-15 minutes daily to praise God and confess His Word out loud. Confess His Word over yourself and over world situations that concern you.

"Put a demand on Holy Spirit specifically to fill you with His flow and anointing."

If you will do this, you will be exercising the governmental authority that God gave you as His child, and you will see dramatic results. 

Remember that Isaiah 55:10-11 says: "For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

3. Expect Your Intimacy with God to Produce Long-awaited and Visible Results This Year

Many of you have been sowing and sowing into the secret place of intimacy with God. You have not been doing this to get any material thing, but rather out of a true love for God. Your heart has been pure, and your hands have been clean.

Despite the fact that you have been truly seeking God for His face and not just His hand, you have not seen the results manifested in your life that you have been hoping to see. God's Word provides many great and excellent promises about how God will bless you if you diligently seek Him, but you have not yet seen many of those promises fulfilled.

Your time of waiting has not gotten you down, but you have wondered in your spirit. Like the Psalmist and the saints in Heaven, you have cried, "How long, O Lord, faithful and true?"

Psalm 13:1-2 says, "How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?"

Although your faith in God has not wavered, you have wondered these same things. But the Lord told me: 5778 is the year of the Joshuas.

Psalm 12:5 says, "'For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now I will arise,' says the Lord; 'I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.'"

Like Joshua, you have lingered long inside the tent of God's presence. You have not departed from His ways nor from seeking His face. His presence is your greatest love, and serving Him is your supreme pleasure.

And you are about to be elevated. You are about to see the manifestation of many promises that God has spoken to you. The things He has been whispering in your ear will soon become visible for all to see. Father God will put the fear of the Lord upon all those around you, and they will tremble at your approach. (Photo via freeimages)

As the Lord did in Joshua 5:1: "So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel."

...so He will do for you in 5778.

This is the year of Joshua. Expect God to work miracles on your behalf this year. Expect His anointing to rest upon you. Expect the Commander of the army of the Lord to appear to you in person. Expect a supernatural paving of the way in every situation you encounter.

5778 is the culmination of many long-awaited promises. It is a year that opens a new season of healing, wholeness, and freedom; a new era of taking territory for the King; and a new age of government for all of God's people who will. Will you exercise your faith to receive, and to move forward with God? (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Another major earthquake occurred in Mexico on Tuesday, September 19, this time near Mexico City. What makes this Mexico City earthquake so unique is the timing. Tuesday's earthquake (September 19) occurred on the 32nd anniversary to the day when Mexico City tragically endured the earthquake that resulted in thousands of lives lost, on September 19, 1985. Tuesday's earthquake also came less than two weeks after the most powerful earthquake in Mexico in a century.

People in Mexico are living in fear. The New York Times quotes a man in Mexico City who stated the following: "'It's like Sodom and Gomorrah, like God is angry at us,' said Jorge Ortiz Diaz, a 66-year-old government employee who was assisting with the rescues, his eyes filling with tears."

It is important that the Body of Christ knows that God is not out to destroy life. John 10:10 (ESV), "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."

Prophecy:

Hank Kunneman prophesied the following on August 27, 2017 – 11 days before the biggest earthquake in Mexico in over a century on September 7, as well as before Tuesday's earthquake in Mexico City. This prophecy contains the redemptive plan of God involving Mexico, Canada and the United States. Note the connection between the shakings in Mexico and political reform. Also remember the capital of Mexico is Mexico City.

The ground will shake in Mexico and it shall be reported, "Why is the soil of this country shaken?" Because, God says, "There is a tremendous reform that shall come out of Mexico, and I'm going to deal with the corruption, the dishonesty, the lewdness that has come out of you and your government.

"I'm going to do something very unusual where I will raise up leadership. A new leadership shall arise out of you, Mexico, and it shall be a leadership that will say, 'We shall remove the waste places, we shall remove the corruption from our midst, and we shall join our hands to the man and with the land to our north.'

"Then watch, there shall be a cord of three strands that will be suddenly established between Mexico to you, United States, and you, Canada...and it shall be North America the Great!"

David Herzog: As 5778 Begins: ...

A great and timely word from David Herzog:

"As 5778 Begins: Transition from Trials into Blessings this Month!"

This month is the beginning of HUGE shifts that are about to happen in your life. How you make this transition right now will determine if you go through this season with great blessing and promotion, or loss and having to go around the mountain one more time.

We have just come out of the month of Av on the Hebrew calendar. This is a testing month as it always has been since Israel was in the wilderness. Between now and the fall feasts there are things to watch out for.

Many have been in the testing time as their pressures increase and God starts to deal with emotions, thoughts, and hurts. The warfare often increases on multiple levels. How you pass this testing time determines if your new season will be that of your "Promised Land" or another season in the desert. 

"Dear friends don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if some strange thing were happening to you." 1 Peter 4:12 

"Start to enter into the major shift and glory visitation during this prophetic Biblical season so God can transition you with new favor for the coming year for awakening in your life, America and the nations."

Many are suddenly alarmed at the surprise trials, betrayals, testings and attacks that seem to come in this season. Know that you are not alone. The enemy often uses psychological and emotional warfare to get you into bitterness, anger, fear and unforgiveness, etc. He knows that if He can get you in the flesh you can hinder your destiny for yet another season.

Once you realize this is only a test then it's much easier to go through it. Embrace the Cross. This means, embrace the testing, love people, forgive those who betray you, repent if you have wronged others or held grudges and out of hurt, cut off from people. Stay in the spirit, keep your joy, stay in the Word and keep declaring the goodness of God.

When You Have Done All, Stand

Then when you have done all to stand, just stand. When the dust settles you will be in a new place in many areas of your life. If you give in to the pressures and do things in the flesh, you end up going around the same mountain and trials just with a different set of people and situations.

Getting out of Egypt is not the same as getting Egypt out of you. Moses missed out on entering the Promised Land due to unresolved anger. We can't bring the same old issues into the new. To get the victor's crown in this race we are all running we have to let them go and "...lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us..." (Hebrews 12:1).

We have heard so many stories recently from pastors and leaders, of people who suddenly just quit their job or positions the same day with no warning or notice, leaving people in a mess. Unfortunately, this allows the enemy to steal their blessing by default. This is a huge red flag indicating people are thinking more about self and did not pass the testings and pressures God's way. Instead, they just bailed off their "cross" and season of testing without transitioning in God's timing with love and peace so they could be blessed in their transition.

Anything not done in love that hurts others for the sake of relieving our own pain to get out of situations God put us in is sin. Often the justifications people come up with almost never pass the love test. (Photo via Wikimedia Commons)

For those of you who did do that, the only solution and the good news is, you can repent (and make it right with those people, businesses, or ministries you betrayed out of self-preservation, especially now in this season as we are coming into the season of repentance leading up to Yum Kippur).

Stay in the Spirit

For those of you in the fire of testing, stay in the spirit with praise and worship. Keep your mind clear by declaring the Word of God and prophetic words over your life.

Stay in the spirit of love which always forgives, releases hurt, thinks the best, hopes the best, believes the best of others, and does all for the benefit of others and God. If you stay in the right spirit even during your trials the next verse is the promise God gives you.

"Instead, because you are participating in the sufferings of the Messiah, keep on rejoicing, so that you may be glad and shout for joy when His glory is revealed."1 Peter 4:13

We have been in full-time ministry for over 25 years and have seen this same pattern play out over and over. We have seen the amazing favor and promotions for those who did it right, including when we transitioned to where we are now, and we have seen those who totally just reacted in the flesh and did things their way. It caused much loss in their life and callings, delaying things for years, when they were almost at the finish line of their next assignment and promotion.

aThere is a new glory, favor, power, promotion and blessing coming at the end of your trial as we come into the feasts starting this coming weekend! This is the great news! If you have been in some major testing and trials, it means that the glory and breakthrough (if you pass the test with the right heart) will be greater than the trial you just went through!

The King is in the Field

Some months it seems like its harder to connect with God and get into His high glory as other months. That season is about to change as we are now in the month of Elul after the hard testing month of the month of Av. Yet now, we are about to enter the exciting fall feasts!

The month of Elul means "the King is in the field." This means it's a month that is easier to access the highest intimacy and glory of God. God seems to be much nearer to many during this upcoming seasonal portal as many suddenly start to get major visitation from the King and prayers suddenly seem to be answered quickly. This month is a time to fix what has been broken or left undone in many areas of our life.

According to inner.org: "Elul is the sixth of the twelve months of the Jewish calendar...Elul is called 'the month of repentance,' 'the month of mercy,' and 'the month of forgiveness.' Elul follows the two previous months of Tammuz and Av, the months of the two great sins of Israel, the sin of the golden calf and the sin of the spies...This is the month that 'the King is in the field'. All can approach Him, and He shines His countenance upon everyone."

It's the season to repent of failures from the past season and make it right with those that you have hurt out of offense. The Bible even says to leave your gift at the altar and go make things right with your brother, then your prayers will be answered.

This is a time when God comes into your field or your area of your life, calling and situation, to make Himself accessible and surprise you with His presence. Whereas in other seasons it might have seemed harder to access the same level of closeness to Him as it is in this new season.

A Time of Good Fortune

Elul is also the month connected to the tribe of Gad. This is a good, transitional month, being the last month of the old year, which precedes the "fall feasts." The month of Gad also means "good fortune." If we transition correctly we should have an expectation of good fortune throughout the month.

Rewards will begin to manifest according to what you have done. That's why it's so important to deal with old sins, hurts and issues now before the fall feasts start so you stay in God's favor, blessings and especially intimacy with Him. Doing so will carry you until the next major season during Passover. This is the month to be sure your emotions and actions are submitted to the Lord.

We are entering the year 5778. Eight is the number of new beginnings! Rosh Hashanah or Head of the Year this September is one of those super prophetic seasons where God speaks to His people in a very powerful way. Many prophetic ministers and Believers receive great heavenly visitation and huge favor and blessing during this time when they set time aside to be with Him and His people together. We call these times "seasonal portals" – seasons of time where God promises to visit in a certain way if we just show up to the appointment.

Also in Heaven, huge things occur during these Kairos times. We have come to realize that when we sync on earth with Heaven at the same Kairos time when Heaven is celebrating these specific seasons, we get a huge download often more than other times in the year. The reason is because those are specific seasons God set up where things are occurring in the heavens. (Photo via Flickr)

Knowing what God is about to do and positioning yourself for it is the key to riding the wave of God's move on the earth with great blessing and favor.

Prepare for Major Shifts

It's one of the times that God promises to visit and bless us in an extraordinary way. It's also the season where major shifts occur in the earth. God promises to do nothing before revealing it to His servants the prophets.

Start to enter into the major shift and glory visitation during this prophetic Biblical season so God can transition you with new favor for the coming year for awakening in your life, America and the nations.

Another thing is to give God an offering to worship Him during the upcoming feasts/seasonal portals coming as we enter into the first month of the new year on God's calendar. During "Head of the Year" which we are about to celebrate, God promises to bless us greatly when we bring Him a sacrificial offering. This, combined with our repentance, forgiveness, praise, worship, faith and offerings causes huge blessings to come back to us! (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)

Amla

    Have you ever heard of amla?  I hadn't until I watched Module 4 of the Square One cancer treatment.  I thought you also might be interested to know about it.  It is also called Indian gooseberry and is consumed extensively in India.  Amla is labeled a Superfood here in the U.S. (maybe other countries, too) because it contains so many anti-oxidants. It has some very good publicity online.  One study showed it lowered blood sugar in diabetics better than the leading medication that is usually prescribed.

    We have been inspired to eat better--lots more whole foods since watching the Square One series.  Adding amla powder to our diet also sounds like a good idea so we have ordered some from Amazon.    
     I will let you know if there is any noticeable change in our health.

Going Home

     Country Guy & I have been in Rochester, MN, at the Mayo Clinic for a few days for checkups.  Today we have our last appointments and then will be heading home.  It will be so good to be home!  We have been gone more than 5 weeks throughout this summer so I have been having a very difficult time keeping up with the house and my gardens, not to mention the Linn Park gardens, especially in this hot dry summer when watering has been important to keep things alive!
     I am ready for a routine.  Of course, harvest will be beginning soon so that will mess up my routine again.  Guess I'm not supposed to plan too far ahead and just take things as they come.
     I think I have heard that before--Live in the present, take one day at a time.  It is a difficult lesson for me, as I love to plan and prepare.
