Martinsville Ag Fair Closing Night

Last night was the final night of this year's Martinsville Agricultural Fair and there was a record crowd of over 4000 paid attendees.

The crowds every night were exceptional thanks to the Fair board's policy of free carnival rides all evening with a $6 gate admission.  Where can you spend an entire evening entertaining the kids for $6?  Of course, if you decide to eat at the Fair, which we did every night, that's a different matter!  Fair food is expensive, but then we only have it once a year so we grazed our way down the Midway every night while visiting with friends and neighbors.  It was a fun week!

I rode the ferris wheel with my sister and her granddaughter and took these pictures of the east part of the Midway and the parked cars from the top of the ferris wheel.  Because of the seating on the ferris wheel, I couldn't get a good picture of the western part of the Midway where the rest of the rides were. As you can possibly see, the Demolition Derby was in progress on the racetrack.  Because of the overflow crowds, cars were parked on the infield of the racetrack in addition to the regular parking lots.
