Making Room

It's that time of year when I have to bring my houseplants in from the screened porch.  In the first few days, until I get used to them again, it seems the house shrinks.  I like the extra space--especially in the kitchen--when they're outside, so it takes awhile to adjust.  There is a chance of frost tonight so yesterday I brought in this huge fern.  I was astounded at how much it had grown! Some of the fronds are over 6 feet long and the plant is 5 feet wide!  Even though I have a taller than normal stand for it, I had to turn another basket upside down on the stand to set the original on.  Even so, the fronds barely clear the floor and it now occupies one whole corner of our kitchen.  It is too beautiful to get rid of, but it does make me feel a little claustrophobic when we're sitting at the table.  It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make, though, because I think houseplants make a house much more inviting, especially in the winter when everything outside is so bleak.

Do any of you know what species of fern this is?
