I think we need to take a lesson from these folks. It's important we make a commitment to the person we married to not even mention the word 'divorce' but instead to work to fix our marriages. Let us remember we have been given a precious gift from God instead of discarding the gift as soon as life gets a little difficult.
Gary Thomas in his book, "Sacred Marriage" says "What if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy?" He describes the book as "This isn't a book that seeks to tell you how to have a happier marriage. This is a book that looks at how we can use the challenges, joys, struggles, and celebrations of marriage to draw closer to God."
How many opportunities in life do we miss to grow in character and love because we are self-focused, instead of using the situation to become more Christ-like?
