SMILE.AMAZON.COM

Have you heard of Amazon Smile? (Our daughter brought this great opportunity to my attention in December, but I'm just now getting around to posting it. Sorry.)  It is the charitable arm of Amazon.com.  Amazon shoppers can go to smile.amazon.com and choose a charity of their choice.  Then by always accessing their Amazon account through smile.amazon.com .05% of their purchase price will be donated to the charity they have chosen.
Martinsville on the Move is listed as one of the eligible charities.  M.O.M. is a volunteer organization that is working to improve our small town.  We would love it if you would choose Martinsville on the Move as the charity you would like to support, but no matter what charity you choose, isn't it a wonderful opportunity to send a small amount of your money to help someone else while you're shopping?  It costs you nothing, and once you've chosen the charity you want to support Amazon remembers that charity, so you don't have to choose it every time you shop.  The only catch is you must start your shopping session at smile.amazon.comThis is an ongoing opportunity so it will help the charity of your choice all year long.
The website says Amazon calculates the donations quarterly and awards the money to the charities about 6 weeks later so we have yet to discover how much will be contributed to Martinsville on the Move since we only discovered this opportunity in December.  But whatever the amount it will be put to good use.
I have removed my Amazon.com bookmark and replaced it with a smile.amazon.com bookmark so that when I'm in a hurry, or not really thinking, I won't go to the main webpage by mistake.
I would love to hear from you if you are participating in this opportunity.  You can send me an email or post a comment.  It would be interesting and fun to know how many people are doing this and where they're located.  And would you also consider passing this information on to friends and family?  If they have no charity they would rather support, M.O.M. would be grateful if they would choose us.  It's amazing that you can help a small town in the middle of the U.S. no matter where you live just by shopping at Amazon Smile, isn't it?
