PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT: ”A date which will live in infamy.”
PRESIDENT EISENHOWER: ”A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.”
PRESIDENT LINCOLN: ”America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
PRESIDENT TRUMAN: ”The buck stops here.”
PRESIDENT KENNEDY: ”Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.”
PRESIDENT OBAMA: ”I have a pen and a phone.”
What is this, “Thus Spake Zarathustra”? I guess we have the ubermensch among us and apparently nobody including a majority of Congress will acknowledge the president’s messianic superiority, which was on display again during his most recent huffing and puffing session. Who ever thought we’d have a foot-stomping, tempestuous brat and inexperienced administrator for a president? ”I have a pen and a phone”?. . .
***[Definition for ubermensch for those like me who didn't know: the ideal superior man of the future who could rise above conventional Christian morality to create and impose his own values, originally described by Nietzsche inThus Spake Zarathustra(1883–85)].
