Heartland Highways 1209: Whiteside Garden Update, Daylily Farm, Old Tim...

My brother sent me a link to this YouTube video.  I was delighted to get it since I am familiar with the people in all three of the segments.

The first segment discussed Dr. Wesley Whitesides botanical garden.  Several years ago, Mom told me she had seen an announcement that Dr. Whitesides was opening his garden to the public as a fundraiser for some organization on Memorial weekend, so she & I met my aunt & uncle there.  We had a wonderful time enjoying his beautiful garden.  It was there I discovered the big leaf magnolia tree in bloom and knew I had to have one. (You can see a picture of Mom with one of the blooms and read about my quest for a specimen here.)

The second segment of this show is about the 5 Acre Daylily Farm which I became acquainted with also on the Whiteside Garden Tour.  One of the two gentlemen who own it gave a talk and a demonstration on dividing daylilies and then gave every one in attendance a tuber to plant.  Mom & my aunt & uncle gave me theirs, too, and they are all thriving.

Four of the participants in the third segment about the Radio Theater are from Martinsville so I am familiar with what they are doing, also.

As I said, I was delighted to have the link to the video.  I hope you enjoy it, too.
